Being close to a greenway is one of the greatest blessings of our new neighborhood. Almost every day, my husband and I walk along this ribbon of a path that meanders through the woods with little wooden bridges that cross over murmuring streams.
Yesterday, toward the end of our walk, I sat down on a bench to pause for a moment to take in the first fragrances of spring and listen to the robust song of the Carolina Wrens. Looking up into the periwinkle blue sky, I had the delight of seeing a stream of Bonaparte Gulls flying north. The golden light of the setting sun bathed their white under bellies to the point where they looked like blinking stars against the cloudless sky.
I’ve noticed that most people look down as they walk along. But lifting my gaze skyward, I was fortunate to see a memorable glimpse of nature in motion.
Mindful Tip:
The next time you take a walk outside, pause for a couple of minutes, look up and behold what is over head.
